Blonding and Lightening the hair:

Everyone’s hair color ranges somewhere between a 1-10 on the natural level scale, with 1 being black and 10 being the lightest possible blonde. Depending on your starting level, previous color/chemical history, at home care, desired end result, etc. it can take multiple appointments to achieve your goal. Even the "simplest" color may take several sessions to achieve.
Open communication and patience are essential to success. Please feel free to reference the color guide below.

When we decolorize (lighten) the hair, the orange, yellow, and red colors below are the underlying pigments. These are the stages of lift the hair goes through depending on your current starting level. These tones are unavoidable but can be neutralized temporarily with a gloss/toner. Maintenance for a toner is every 3-5 weeks to keep any unwanted underlying pigment or undertone neutralized. Using the recommended take home products will help with the longevity of your color, it will also help with the health of your hair so that we can achieve your desired end result sooner.

At Home Maintenance:

Who doesn’t want healthy, shiny, vibrant hair everyday? You leave the salon, your hair feels amazing, but after a few days at home, it’s
back to feeling dull, lack-luster, and dry. Let’s say that you’re on a fairly regular schedule, you come in every 6-8 weeks to get your hair colored and cut.
We see you 1 day out of around 80 days. In that 1 day, we can only do so much to your hair, it’s what you do those other 79ish days that really matter. Your hair
health is your responsibility,  We can help, we can create fun colors/designs, but ultimately, if you’re not caring for your hair at home, we won’t have much to work with.

So what can you do at home to help maintain your vibrant color, keep your hair feeling
moisturized, and give it the love it deserves?

-Use the recommended take-home products. We don’t just recommend them for fun. We recommend
them because there are ingredients in them that you won’t find in drug store products, and vice versa. There are fillers in drug store products (such as waxes
that coat the outside of your hair giving you a false sheen to the hair) that aren’t in professional products. They don’t strip that fresh hair color out of your hair. They will encourage color retention, moisture retention, strength, etc. The result is shinier, healthier, more vibrant hair.

-Learn about the maintenance of your hair color/cut before you commit to it. Here are a few examples of services that you will need to maintain on a consistent basis:

Toner: 4-6 weeks (in most cases)

 Color Retouch: 6-8 weeks

Short Haircuts: 4-8 weeks

Fashion Colors: 3-4 weeks (in most cases)

-There are many tips and tricks you can do at home to help extend the life of your color, cut, and overall health of your hair. Here are a few to consider:

Rinse hair in cool water to help extend the life of your color. Don’t shampoo everyday, try shampooing 2-3 times a week at most.

Using hot tools will damage the health of your hair, as well as fade color quicker. If you use a hot tool on your hair, make sure you are using it at the correct temperature, as well as ensuring you are using a heat protectant for your hair.

Chlorine and hard water will effect your hair color. If you are a swimmer or have hard water at home that you cannot avoid, make sure you are using a clarifying shampoo once a week, followed by a deep conditioner. You can expect your color to fade much faster if you have hard water.

There are many more things to consider when it comes to at home maintenance. Please make sure to contact us with any questions, or bring up any concerns during your appointment time.
